Reprise Yellow Celosia Seed
Reprise Yellow Celosia Seed
New! Fast-growing single-stem celosia.
Bred for a short cultivation period. Single-stem celosia offers high-quality cuts and a short growing cycle that is especially useful for obtaining first color in the early season and for late succession plantings at the end of the season. The Reprise series offers highly uniform flowering time and plant height across the series and within varieties, and finely folded combs in brilliant colors atop sturdy stems. Best suited for cultivation under protected culture and high-density plantings (field-grown plantings will likely produce shorter stems). 3–6" spacing recommended; wider spacing will likely result in larger combs and shorter plants, while tighter spacing will result in slightly smaller blooms. Flowers are 3–4" wide and 3–4" tall under recommended growing conditions but will continue to develop folds and increase in size if left on the stem after maturity. Days to maturity and plant height will also vary depending on growing environment. Specs:
DAYS TO GERMINATION:
8-14 days at 70-80°F (21-27°C)SOWING:
Transplant (recommended) - Greenhouse production is also recommended. Sow seed into 128-cell flat or preferred seedling container, 3–4 weeks before planting out. Light is required for germination; cover very lightly to hold seeds in place. Bottom water or mist lightly to avoid displacing seeds and soil. Grow seedlings at 63–68°F (17–20°C) night temperatures and long days. Low temperatures and less than 12 hours of light can cause premature flowering. Do not pinch plants. Plants produce one flower and one stem per plant: pinching will terminate production. Direct seed – Not recommend due to the economics of the seed cost. Recommended for protected culture/greenhouse cultivation. While these varieties can be grown in the field, they may be shorter than desired for cut flower use.LIGHT PREFERENCE:
Sun.PLANT HEIGHT:
30-48".PLANT SPACING:
3-6" Horizontal netting is strongly recommended. We have observed plants are shorter and tend to have thicker stems than when grown in the field. A higher planting density in the field may encourage plants to stretch and support development of thinner stems.HARDINESS ZONES:
Annual.HARVEST:
Fresh and dried – Harvest when flowers are fully developed, and stems are firm at the base of the bloom. Dried – Remove foliage and hang to dry.SOIL REQUIREMENTS:
Well-drained, moist, fertile soil high in organic matter. pH: 6.0–7.0 is preferred.SCIENTIFIC NAME: Celosia argentea cristataJohnny's is committed to your success, every step of the way.
